    Get PDF
INTRODUCTION: Postoperative care starts with the application of a bed rest, antihypertensive therapy, steroids and antibiotics prophylactic, dressing, nasal packing, transmucoseptal sutures and controlling postoperative result.MATHERIAL AND METHODS: We report our experience with postoperative care and measurement after septo- and rhinoplasty. We review the free access literature about the experience of other clinics in these problems and compared the results.REVIEW: In our review we present our postoperative care and those described by other authors.DISCUSSION: All postoperative care aims at preventing possible complications and shortening recovery. Most of them have been adopted as standard postoperative treatment and supervision. Topic of our discussion are the differences and similarities in their implementation compared to our practice.CONCLUSION: The postoperative care is more effective when we are aware of their strengths and weaknesses and we combine them individually for each patient

Real Coded Genetic Algorithm with Enhanced Abilities for Adaptation Applied to Optimisation of MIMO Systems

    Get PDF
This article presents an investigation of real coded Genetic Algorithm Blend Crossover Alpha modification, with enhanced ability for adaptation, applied to minimisation of transmit power in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems beamforming. The goal is to formulate transmit power minimisation task as a black box software object and evaluate an alternative to currently existing methods for optimisation of transmit energy in multicast system constrained by signal to noise ratio. The novelty of this adaptive methodology for determination of minimal power level within certain Quality of Service criteria is that it guarantees satisfaction of the constraint and 100% feasibility of achieved solutions. In addition this methodology excludes retuning algorithms parameters by using black box model for the problem definition. Experiments are conducted for identification of weight vectors assigned for signal strength and direction. Achieved experimental results are presented and analysed

Computer detection of spatial visualization in a location-based task

An untapped area of productivity gains hinges on automatic detection of user cognitive characteristics. One such characteristic, spatial visualization ability, relates to users’ computer performance. In this dissertation, we describe a novel, behavior-based, spatial visualization detection technique. The technique does not depend on sensors or knowledge of the environment and can be adopted on generic computers. In a Census Bureau location-based address verification task, detection rates exceeded 80% and approached 90%

MODELLING AND SIMULATION OF ELECTROPNEUMATIC POSITIONING SYSTEM INCLUDING THE LENGTH OF PNEUMATIC LINES

    Get PDF
This paper presents a mathematical model of electropneumatic positioning system including the length of pneumatic lines for the determination of flow and pressure in unsteady operating modes. A simulation model is developed to study the dynamic processes in an electropneumatic positioning system. Simulation of the mathematical models of the screw compressor, proportional directional valve, pneumatic lines, pneumatic cylinder and PID controller were designed in “MatLab Simulink”. The simulation models of the transients in the electropneumatic positioning system at different line lengths from 1m and 10m with stepwise variation of the input setpoint are simulated developed. Graphical comparison is made of the obtained experimental results and simulation model influence of the pneumatic line length on the dynamics of the electropneumatic positioning system are made

MODELLING AND SIMULATION OF DYNAMIC PROCESSES OF PNEUMATIC LINES

The paper presents the simulation of dynamic processes of pneumatic lines using the program "SIMULINK" from the product " MatLab". Simulation is a process of forming, preparing and entering a mathematical model in a computational environment and obtaining the results of the calculations performed in this environment. The mathematical model of the pneumatic line to be simulated is according to previously presented equations. For the simulation of the dynamic processes, various real parameters of the dimensions and lengths of the pneumatic lines with the corresponding coefficients are introduced into the model. The simulation of the transient responses was carried out with stepwise variation and sinusoidal input signal supplied by the set point device and pneumatic line lengths of 1 m, 5 m and 10 m. The simulation output data were output to the interface in the form of graphs showing the dependence of the observed quantities, the input and output pressure through the pneumatic line, and the input and output flow rates. From the mathematical model and the experiments performed, it can be concluded that the transient responses in the simulations correspond to the dynamic processes of pneumatic lines of different lengths

Tonsillectomy adenoidectomy and adenotonsillectomy - post operative complications. A meta-Analysis

    Get PDF
Introduction: Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy is a relatively safe procedure and is one of the most common operations performed by otolaryngologists, but it is nevertheless associated with certain complications.AIM: The aim of the present study was to summarize the data about complications after tonsillectomy with or without adenoidectomy.Matherial and methods : A meta-analysis was performed, comprising publications on tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy retrieved from the Medline bibliographic database. We show are results and compare with published articles. Results: The average rate of postoperative complications in the reviewed publications is 7.48% with range from 1, 37% to 14,96%.Discussion: The postoperative period is with a low risk of complications. The results from published articles and our clinic showed that the larger share occupy major complications - 1854/93.63% in the Medline bibliographic database and 23/52.27% - our result. The complications after tonsillectomy with/without adenoidectomy are rare, but for the most part - major, which necessitates caution in the postoperative period. Conclusion: In conclusion we can say that tonsillectomy is one of the most commonly practiced operations with rare rate of complications, which anyway requires knowledge for recognizing

New data on the ecological peculiarities and the distribution in Bulgaria of the vulnerable habitat F3.1d Balkan-Anatolian submontane genistoid scrub from the European Red List of Habitats

    Get PDF
According to the first Red List assessment of European Habitats, only 6 types of heathland and shrub have conservation significance. Amongst them, one type - F3.1d Balkan-Anatolian submontane genistoid scrub, is endemic for a part of the Balkan Peninsula and the west Anatolian Peninsula. This habitat type comprises a complex of open shrub, herbaceous and chasmophytic plant communities, but mostly dominated by the species complex of Genista rumelica/G. lydia. It is represented by open low heathlands typically occupying volcanic rocky substrates under climatic conditions with a pronounced Mediterranean influence. The European distribution of these communities is limited to North-East Greece and South Bulgaria. They are also included in the Red Data Book of Bulgaria, vol. 3. Natural habitats, assessed as “Vulnerable”. Despite their significance for the vegetation cover of Bulgaria and their conservation value at national and European level, these communities remain poorly studied. The present study provides more detailed information on habitat’s distribution and area coverage in Bulgaria, as well as on its floristic and ecological structure

Integration of function, aesthetics and patients' personal preferences in the prosthetic treatment planning

Introduction Optimal aesthetic results require suitable smile design that fulfils patient's expectations. Psychological importance of teeth appearance is clear and often discussed in relation to the success of prosthetic treatment. The objective of this article was to present methodology for creating customized smile design using the Visagismile concept and evaluate aesthetic satisfaction with prosthetic treatment. Case report A 52-year-old female patient required complete esthetical dental mouth reconstruction. Digital planning software (Visagismile) provided dentists and technicians a 2D preview of the final design that relates facial perception and personality of the patient. The latest innovation of used software in addition to documents that dentists send for the Visagismile application is that they need to send an intraoral 3D scan of the patients mouth (with any scanner) and define the length and position of incisal edges of the central incisors. This information as a STL file is sent to new Visagismile/REBEL center that is actually a digital lab, that converts 2D designs created by the Visagismile concept into 3D and create a digital wax up immediately. Conclusions Visagismile concept supports both dentist and patient in deciding the aesthetics of the prosthetic restoration. The total coefficient of the assessment of patients for the final aesthetic result was highly satisfactory. Using the proposed methodology, a smile design corresponding to individual facial features, temperament and personal preferences of the patient can be reproduced
